NTL, the UK's leading cable operator looks set to announce their acquisition of Virgin Mobile over the next week.
And who said convergence wasn't back. Here you have a cable operator and media company (they create some of their own content) buying a leading mobile phone operator.
And it looks like the Virgin Mobile team is to stay on - so cable pioneers will sit alongside mobile pioneers. This could be an extremely successful formula.
Everyone in the media and telecomms sectors should take not of this deal - for it is the future.
