Google to power search on Intels new Viiv computers

Users of Intel's new entertainment platform, Viiv, will soon be able to use Google's search technology to locate Internet video, one of several new partnerships announced at CES by Intel as the top chipmaker moves from microprocessors into digital home entertainment.

The agreement, announced by the companies yesterday, will give users of Intel's Viiv-branded products a way to search, organize and view Internet video on their televisions and portable devices.

Intel also announced a bunch of content partners willing to provide movies, TV and music to the Viiv platform. Intel sure is taking entertainment seriously with their Viiv strategy. The media center PC is getting one heck of a boost, which is obviously good for Microsoft, proving that the old Wintel alliance is nearly as strong as ever.
