Well to cap it all electronics retailers surge

In a week that has been inundated by news from the consumer electronics show in Vegas and revealed an industry more confident than ever, it would seem only fitting that today the US' two leading electronic retailers should announce record sales.

The surging popularity of flat-panel televisions and MP3 players during the holiday season translated into big December sales gains for leaders Best Buy and Circuit City.

Best Buy reported a 5.8% gain in December sales at stores open at least 14 months, while rival Circuit City posted a 10.8 percent rise in December sales at stores open at least a year.

Total sales for both were up around 12% on the year before. Flat-panel TV sales saw triple digit growth. And look set to continue for the next couple of months at least. So maybe we should believe all the hype from CES. Electronics is the new game - so get shopping!
